Safety
Safety is of paramount importance to Outward Bound Sabah. Activities are carefully planned, tested and constantly supervised by qualified and experienced instructors. Before an activity is carried out, all participants are briefed and checked on safety requirements and equipment. Only up-to-date and internationally recognized equipment is used for our activities.

Well-qualified Staff
The instructor is a vital component to the success of any Outward Bound Sabah programme. Instructors are chosen after a rigorous selection procedure and undertake extensive training to develop the necessary technical and people skills. Many instructors travel overseas for training and placements. We also receives visiting instructors from other countries who broaden the knowledge and experience of the staff at the base here.

Quality of Qualification
As there is as yet no standard national qualification for outdoor Instructors in Malaysia, Outward Bound Sabah has taken the initiative to set-up its own Instructor Qualification and Assessment System. The methods and curriculum were similarly adopted from other Outward Bound centers such as USA, United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. Most of the training is handled by a senior instructor however external trainers are also being invited to conduct the training. Instructors are being assessed and given a report on his/ her performance in the Staff Appraisal System. We also have a Risk Management System whereby every activity and the equipment are being reviewed periodically. It is mandatory for each Outward Bound center to undergo the International Safety and Program Review conducted biannually by overseas experts to assess the standard practices of the center.

Ideal Location and Facilities
The location of the school is ideal for various activities with direct access to the South China Sea, Kawang River and the close proximity to the mountains and jungle of Tropical Rainforest. This diverse natural environment of Sabah provides a perfect backdrop for Outward Bound Sabah activities.
