The term "Outward Bound" originally meant lifting anchor and heading out
to the unknown adventures of the open sea.
Such a trip is still an
integral part of the modern day Outward Bound experience.

Groups sail out in Whaler (a 27 ft, 2 masts sailboat) for the journey to the beautiful
islands of the South China Sea.
Upon arrival, they construct their
beach camp, cook dinner on open fires and prepare for the next day's
adventures. They also have to organize the expedition, looking
at the chart, set up the options, share duties...
This process includes
concentration, decision making, leadership skills and creative thinking.
