Public Trust, Ethics, Accountability and Good Governance - Challenges In A Globalized World
Introduction
One of the disturbing global trends in recent times is the apparent erosion of ethics and public trust and the lack of accountability which often lead to bad governance.
It would appear that this cancerous “disease” has now permeated to the whole fabric of society. It is not only elected officials and civil servants who are implicated but also members of religious officials, sporting elites, private sectors, bankers etc. No sector is “clean”. What has gone wrong? The public feel betrayed and ask the question ‘who can we trust?’
To address this and other issues pertaining to the Conference Theme, we have invited four renowned experts who will share their experience and expertise with the participants. They are the key-note address speaker, Prof Emeritus O.P Dwivedi (Canada), Prof. Mel Powell (United States), Prof. Emeritus Roger Wettenhall (Australia) and D.S Mishra (India). They will each speak on a particular aspect of the Theme as well as participate in the Panel Discussion to be chaired by the former Sabah State Secretary Tan Sri Simon Sipaun.
All four lectures will be held on the first day of the Conference at the Kimanis Ballroom, Hyatt Regency.
The second day programme of the Conference will be held at the Outward Bound Sabah Centre in Kinarut, 27KM New Papar Road where participants will have an opportunity of involving themselves in specially designed outdoor activities which aim to develop team work, leadership skill, trust and confidence. These activities will be conducted in a safe, scenic and serene environment by highly qualified instructors.
This 2-days ‘Experiential’ Conference is the first of its kind ever to be conducted and will leave participants with an experience of a lifetime.
