An Adventure Course is a fun unique experience for young person who wants to
come into closer contact with the outdoor environment and join with others,
around the same age, in learning new skills and activities.
This multi-activity
programme enables young people to go beyond their perceived limits
and achieve their full potentials. The participants
develop self-reliance, greater self confidence, interpersonal skills, and a
responsibility for others and themselves. The activities encourage participants
to focus on planning, organizing, prioritizing and the understanding and respect
of others. These are the key
Outward Bound philosophies underlying Adventure Course.

The Adventure Course consists on a series of activities including rock
climbing, abseiling,
camping, ropes courses, trekking, canoeing and raft
building form the basis of the course. The programme is based at the
Outward Bound School, Kinarut using the specialist facilities and
wonderful natural environment of the school grounds. The course also
includes two expeditions, a navigation and camping practice through the Kawang
Forest Reserve and sailing
to Dinawan island. The children
travel and camp in groups and are at all times accompanied by
qualified instructors.

There a two experienced and qualified staff who are responsible for the children during the programme.
They are trained in first aid, emergency response and in risk management. They
are supported by the Outward Bound Sabah 24-hours emergency services whereby
evacuation to the nearest hospital can be done swiftly. Parents
on the other hand are asked not to visit or contact the children during the
course except in emergency. However they can leave a message at our Operation
office for their children. This is to avoid focus disruption and to provide
