Information For Prospective Instructor (Local)  

Practical Information

Our instructors come from different background and experience. Working together in the spirit of Outward Bound has been the perfect blend and has serve the sole motivation to join the Outward Bound Sabah fraternity. The staff has always been referred to as " second family" as the relationship, cooperation and compassion among the staff are best to define our motto

Qualifications

  • Age: minimum 21 years old

  • Physical: healthy, non-smoking and active in sports

  • Academic: holding a Diploma or higher in any field of studies. However a strong passion in outdoor activity, the adventure and education are added advantage.   

  • Background: Single bachelor and never been convicted on any felony offence.

  • Holding a swimming Bronze Medallion, First Aid or any other outdoor certification will be an advantage.

Information For Prospective Visiting Instructor (Overseas)

 

Practical Information

We do NOT have Expatriates Instructor vacancies because of Work Permit and Immigration restrictions. However there is an opportunity for visiting instructor to be accepted on volunteer basis. We have been constantly accepting visiting instructor from other OB schools from Lumut Malaysia, South Africa and Singapore.

  • Deal: the UNPAID attachment assume the visiting instructor will accept the experience, board and lodging as a fair exchange for the service.

  • Duration: period of 6 months to 1 year.

  • Probation and Training: All visiting instructor will firstly undergo the Internal Qualification Assessment. During which performance must be satisfactory, otherwise OBS will have the right to terminate the arrangement.

  • Immigration issues: All immigration issue has to be settled by the applicant

  • Health: must submit a medical check attesting that he/ she can practice strenuous activities in a tropical climate. They need to take immunization on malaria, dengue and hepatitis or anything if necessary.

  • Personal gear: The school will provide the technical equipment for activities except for personal gear.

  • Personal insurance: All visiting instructor must get insurance from their host country.This package DOES NOT COVER medical expenses, hospitalization and repatriation.

  • Outward Bound regulations of no smoking, no alcohol AND NO non prescribed drugs must be adhered to.

  • Transportation: the school is 25 km south from KK on the main coastal road. Plenty of cheap minibuses use the route and during your stay it will be easy for you to go to town.
