Date: Monday, 9th April 2007
On this date, Outward Bound
Sabah (OBS) took a group of 10 participants from St Paul Co
Educational Hong Kong to Kompleks Pemulihan Orang-Orang Kurang Upaya (KPOKU).
The intention of the visit was to work alongside the students and
staff to assist with improvements to the facility. The material used
for the work were sponsored by OBS, KPOKU and Jabatan Pertanian Sabah.

The students from Hong
Kong, aged 17 and 18 were at OBS for a 10-Day course which included a
local community service project. The project started with everyone
helping to plant tress which would provide both fruit and shade in the
future. After a hot and successful morning working in the sun,
everyone moved into the main hall to assist with the re-painting of
the badminton court, whilst others contributed to painting the school
logo and Sabah emblem onto the stage wall. Entertainment came in the
form of karaoke, and the students had a lot of fun interacting and
learning sign language.
After some fantastic food,
everyone was ready to go for the afternoon's activities which included
friendly badminton match and friendly football match. Due to the sheer
extent of the success and enjoyment felt by all involved, OBS has high
hopes for the continuation of projects like this for the community and
wishes to further provide opportunities to increase understanding and
support for the local people.
